Who we serve

CISS is a grassroots shelter and advocacy program dedicated to the safety and empowerment of people victimized by domestic and sexual violence.

CISS was founded in 1991 and for the past 33 years has not only worked directly with victims of violence, but also within our community to eliminate, the societal conditions that condone violence against women and their children.

Each year, CISS shelters approximately 100 women and children and serves over 300 individuals with a variety of services.

Our Mission

The mission of the Crisis Intervention Shelter Service, Inc. is to eliminate the personal and societal conditions embedded in the fabric of our communities that support and condone violence against women.
However far reaching, the goals and objectives are identified through continuous community prevention education efforts and the direct service component of the mission statement to meet the safety and emotional needs of women and children who have been battered and/or raped.

Upcoming Events

CISS will be participating in the South Dakota Day of Giving which will be held on December 3rd. Follow our Facebook page for updated items and information related to the Silent Auction we will be having that day!

My CISSter's Closet

It is with a very heavy heart that we must announce that our store, My Cisster’s Closet, will not be reopening after the Rally.
We have truly loved serving our community and being able to support our domestic violence shelter and the victims they serve. We had amazing customers and are deeply saddened we won’t be able to continue to serve you in the thrift store aspect.
Though we must close our doors, we want our community and donors to know that you can take your donations to the shelter office directly (please keep in mind their needs list due to limited space) or to the other thrift stores in town.
Thank you again for letting us serve you for the past several years. We will truly miss each and every one of you.
